Will your new baby be teased about their ears? At birth the ear cartilage is soft and easy to mould, so if there is an obvious deformity, the sooner Ear Buddies™ splints are fitted the better.
"I would like to thank you for creating such a brilliant product. I used earbuddies on my daughter from the age of 5 months through to 7 and half months. I think they have vastly improved her ears and I am forever grateful for that, as I am sure she will be." Mrs SR, Queensland, Australia
Splintage is also recommended if there is a family history of stick-out (bat) ears, even if the ears seem fairly normal at birth. In at least a third of 5 year olds with stick-out ears, prominence wasn’t noticed until about three months of age. By this time splintage is more difficult and lengthy. “Parents are often falsely reassured that their child will grow into their ears”, says David Gault FRCS, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, who developed the Ear Buddies™ system. “It is a real shame if the chance to splint is missed, because the only option then is to wait for surgery. As NHS ops become less available, it can be a costly mistake.”
Ear Buddies™ kits are simple enough for any parent to fit.
